Many people, yes even here in the South, just don’t get the draw of college football. However, growing up around all sports and raised a Tech fan, Georgia Tech football and sports in many ways has provided me with some of my greatest memories from childhood. Even when life wasn’t always the greatest, Tech was there, Tech was an escape, football comes in autumn. I have missed few games since 1995 and building memories with Bobby, who I always drug with me to the games, later adding my Dad, brother, and E , is some of the greatest experiences in life. We’ve seen Tech fans litter the field with seat cushions versus Maryland in one of the first Thursday night ESPN games. We’ve seen the old inflatable Buzz trampled by UGA players, along with a few scuffles from the classless mutts. We’ve seen Jasper Sanks fumble on the inch line, we’ve seen Tech comeback and beat Virgina in dramatic fashion, we’ve seen the greatness that was Joe Hamilton, Keith Brooking, to Calvin Johnson. We’ve seen Watkins in the corner at Clemson as Tech ripped the heart out of Clemson again and again. And of course my oldest Tech memory is 1991 New Years Day at the Citrus Bowl watching Tech demolish Nebraska to win the National Championship. Many more great memories could be added from this year alone, but last Saturday night in Tampa, Florida watching one heck of an offensive football game to win the ACC Championship, just got added to the list. So thankful that it could be shared with my dad, Bobby, and E (and the Bedford family who took good care of us at the tailgate). We will see you at the Orange Bowl!
