Punch’em in the Mouth

As the week progresses I can’t help but relish in Coach Johnson’s comments regarding UGA.  Yeah, so what you won a game, you can relish in it, but you ain’t playing Saturday for what really matters, CHAMPIONSHIPS.  The fact is UGA is no longer as relevant to Tech as they once were.  And like the the big brother whose trying to hold on the last fact that he’s still bigger, the Dawg Nation is losing its power over the little brother, even in victory.  The little brother is going to the dance while big brother stays at home playing video games and holds on to that memory of beating that kid before.  So what, you ain’t dancing, and we all know that your whipping will come again.  Now get back to your hole and shut up before I punch you in the mouth.

  1. Paul Johnson is great. I listened to the interview and he would always have the right thing to say. He would NEVER concede to the fact that he would do something wrong.
When asked about whether he was surprised Georgia used the run so well, he might as well have said “HELL NO dumbass. that was a stupid question. Let’s move on.”

Even his excuse as to why we threw 3 ‘hail marys’ seemed pretty convincing.

We’ve got bigger fish to fry.

After reading your post though, I’ve got to ask one question…

If “UGA is no longer as relevant to Tech as they once were” does that mean we’re more concerned with our intra-conference image and rivalries than we are with our overall image in the BCS?

Could this also mean we’ll cut UGA out of our fight songs?

I’m thinking Tech must first dominate ACC. If they do that first, then beating UGA won’t be so rare. It’s not like beating UGA this year was going to catapult us anywhere in the BCS, in fact losing to UNC would have been far more tragic. That’s the point being made. UGA will always be an historical rival, but it’s time we start making some new ones, just as UGA has UF and Auburn, we need to have something like Clemson and Virginia Tech, only Tech needs to dominate them both just as UF does it’s rivals of all varieties. Two teams dominate the SEC in the last 20 years (UF/Bama), Tech needs to be like one of those teams in the ACC. We need to own the Coastal like UF owns the East. Respect will come regardless of conference.

Teach the son to yell, “THWG”. But just don’t teach him that UGA is all that matters.

See you in Tampa, where step 1 begins!
