The Fellowship

Rick Nix: 2nd Generation Jolly Good Fellow whose love affair began when uncle Bobby Pope drug the young lad to Tech games to see Billy Lothridge beat the likes of Joe Namath. Rick has sat at Tech games since 1962, loves to tailgate early and represents the history; bringing the aura of the past alive, but won’t hesitate to call the game over at the first Tech fumble.

History Watch: The Bobby Dodd Era, 1971 Peach Bowl, 1991 Citrus Bowl,  1990 National Championship, 2000 Peach Bowl, 2006 ACC Championship Game, 2008 Chick-Fil-A Bowl

Brad Nix: 3rd Generation Jolly Good Fellow, son of Ricky, grandson of Bob Lewis, brother of Spence. Techno guru and Jolly Good Fellows webmaster.  When not obsessing about new media technology, he loves gathering and hanging out with Jolly Good Fellows.  A known beer snob, once you go dark – you don’t go back, Brad is head beer taster for his brother Spence’s homebrews.

History Watch: The Bill Curry Days, 1991 Citrus Bowl, 1990 National Championship, 2000 Peach Bowl, 2009 #5 VA Tech goes down at Bobby Dodd – goal post followed.

Spencer Nix: 3rd Generation Jolly Good Fellow, son of Ricky, grandson of Bob Lewis, brother of Brad.  Watched first Tech game at Grant Field as the Black Swatch D beat Georgia 20-16 in 1985. Fell in love with all-things Georgia Tech at the 1991 Citrus Bowl and 1990 National Championship. Fan credentials include being at every UGA v GT game since 1994 and missed only eight home games since graduating high school in 1995, even while attending college/graduate school and living in Louisville, KY.

History Watch: The Bill Curry Days, 1991 Citrus Bowl, 1990 National Championship, 2000 Gator Bowl, 2000 Peach Bowl, 2004 Champs Sports Bowl, 2006 ACC Championship Game, 2008 Chik-Fil-A Bowl, Lifetime Attendance Record (69-32)

Bobby Pope: 3rd Generation Jolly Good Fellow, son of Skip, grandson of Bobby; brings hell and fire with him, the youngest of the original fellows, his fire is contagious and his youth still fresh. Won’t hesitate to scream profanities and then chest bump the 80 year old sitting beside him after a touchdown run, always in the moment and fired up. Graduated from Berry College with a B.A. in Communications.  Originally from North Georgia now residing in Los Angeles there is no one who bleeds more old gold.

History Watch: Started attending during the Ross days, fell in love during the O’Leary era. 2000 Gator Bowl, 2000 Peach Bowl, 2004 Champs Sports Bowl, 2006 ACC Championship, 2008 Peach Bowl.

Erik Brannon: 3rd Generation Jolly Good Fellow, friend and “adopted” brother of Brad and Spencer.  A love for Georgia Tech from childhood. Season ticket holder since 2004. E is like sunshine on a rainy day, bringing hope and optimism before every game.

Dustin Jacobs: Born and raised in the North Georgia foothills, The Dust is a life long Tech fan. He graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication. He currently resides in Los Angeles, CA and is attending the University of Southern California for an M.F.A. in Film Production. Though he lives on the opposite coast, he still has a passion for Atlanta sports, and the team that plays in the Flats. “To Hell with Georgia” is not a phrase, it’s a way of life!

Jeff Baltes: Born into a Tech family. Jeff’s fondest memories are of his grandfather taking him to Tech games in the Fall. Jeff credits his grandfather as the reason he supports Tech. Jeff has not missed a home game since the BYU game in 2001 and doesn’t plan on that streak ending anytime soon, regardless of who is getting married that week. Biggest thrill was being in attendance in Orlando when Tech won the National Title in 1990.
