In this slow bye week, I needed to get my fix of GT football as I am feeling deprived already knowing that we don’t have a game this weekend. So I sit here at work, dreaming about many long runs and multiple sacks on the Bullpuppies next weekend and find myself looking back on this magical season. I am trying to determine what one play has defined our season and gotten us into the ACC Championship game. Here are a few of the plays that come to mind for me:

1. Paul Johnson out coaching Dabo Swinney and putting Jerrard Tarrant back to receive a punt on a fake field goal. As we all know Tarrant took it to the house.

2. After a bad pitch and fumble, Josh Nesbitt strips the ball back from an FSU defensive player, making up for his mistake. He scored the game winning TD a couple of plays later.

3. Josh Nesbitt running 39 yards for the game winning TD against VT. I guess Cam Chancellor just could not make any plays since he is a girl and can’t avoid blockers.

4. Paul Johnson going for it on 4th down, losing by 3 points in OT to Wake Forest. Of course, GT scored the game winning TD the next play and kept our championship dreams alive.

Did I miss any other big plays? What is your play of the year?

Watching this offense evolve over the last two years, I have come to the conclusion that it cannot be stopped if it is executed properly (I know, way to go Jeff, you dug deep for that one.) I just get so tired of people still commenting and writing saying that this offense will not work. I hear the excuse, put them in the SEC and they are mediocre. Well, GT is 4-1 against the SEC with that one loss coming from LSU who had a month to prepare and they flew in a “specialist” on how to stop the option. The only specialist GT needs is one that can help Paul Johnson carry his gigantic balls around.

High School Offense Stats

- GT is second in the nation in rushing yards per game at 314.9 a game and lead the nation in total rushing yards.

- GT is #1 in the country in total 1st Downs for the season with 155.

- GT leads the nation in rushing TD’s with 36.

- GT has three of the top 8 rushers in the ACC

- Oh by the way, GT has the leading receiver in the conference as well, but I thought GT did not pass in this offense.

My man crush of Paul Johnson has grown with every passing day that he has been at GT and has now surpassed the greatness that is Chuck Norris. Paul Johnson now can go leaps and bounds above anything Chuck Norris ever accomplished. To show that Paul is better, allow me to make some comparisons to the now inferior Chuck .

Paul Johnson’s “high school offense” would dominate any Chuck Norris NFL defense.

If Chuck Norris makes the law, then Paul Johnson is above it.

The only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he made a mistake, well “wrong” is a word Paul Johnson does not even know.

Chuck Norris passes on 3rd and 11, Paul Johnson runs to the short side and gets 13 (see FSU game).

These are a few of my comparisons, I know there are more. What say you?
